House Rules & Expectations
Please read through our community guidelines before applying. These help us maintain a respectful, enjoyable living environment for everyone.
Community Values
- •We are a community first — respect, kindness, and open communication are non-negotiable.
- •Diversity of backgrounds, lifestyles, and perspectives is celebrated.
- •We assume good intent and address issues directly with the person involved.
- •Everyone contributes to making the house a place we're all proud to live in.
Quiet Hours
- •Quiet hours are 10pm to 7am on weekdays, 11pm to 8am on weekends.
- •Keep conversations, music, and calls at low volume during quiet hours.
- •If you need to take a call during quiet hours, use your room or step outside.
Cleaning & Shared Spaces
- •Clean up after yourself immediately — dishes, counters, stovetop, bathroom after use.
- •We follow a rotating cleaning schedule for common areas (kitchen, bathrooms, living room).
- •Don't leave personal items in shared spaces overnight.
- •Take out the trash/recycling when it's full — don't wait for someone else.
Guests & Visitors
- •Guests are welcome but must be respectful of all housemates.
- •Overnight guests are limited to 3 nights per week — extended stays require house approval.
- •Always give the house a heads-up when having guests over, especially for gatherings.
- •You are responsible for your guests' behavior.
Kitchen & Food
- •Label your food in the fridge — unlabeled items may be considered communal.
- •Shared pantry items (cooking oil, spices, etc.) are restocked via the house fund.
- •Clean the kitchen within 30 minutes of cooking — don't leave dishes soaking overnight.
- •Respect dietary needs and allergies of housemates.
Move-In & Move-Out
- •Minimum stay is 3 months.
- •30 days written notice is required before moving out.
- •A security deposit is required and returned after move-out inspection.
- •Your room must be returned to move-in condition (cleaned, no damage, no personal items).
Conflict Resolution
- •Step 1: Talk directly to the person involved — most issues are misunderstandings.
- •Step 2: If unresolved, bring it to a house meeting for group input.
- •Step 3: If still unresolved, the house manager will mediate.
- •Passive-aggressive notes, gossiping, or silent treatment are not acceptable approaches.
Safety & Respect
- •Lock the front door when you leave or when you're the last one in at night.
- •No smoking indoors — designated outdoor areas only.
- •Substance use that affects the shared environment or other members is not tolerated.
- •Report maintenance issues immediately — don't let small problems become big ones.
